The Pro version from Apple is positioned as a laptop for professional users. The Pro model in 2006 replaced the PowerBook PC – it was a 13-inch laptop. After several years and significant transformations, since 2019, the Pro model has featured a 16-inch display.
Initially, the Pro version was released in a multi-component aluminum body. Since 2008, the body has been manufactured using Unibody technology, meaning it is made from a single piece of aluminum using Apple's patented milling process.
Since 2008, all laptops have been equipped with a Multi-Touch trackpad. However, starting in 2015 and continuing to this day, the trackpad was replaced by the Force Touch trackpad. This format recognizes the force of pressing and four types of touches. The keyboard has backlighting and is equipped with a light sensor.
It was at the end of 2019 that the flagship Pro model with a 16-inch screen was released. The device features a Retina display, which is still in use today. The maximum resolution is 3072 x 1920 pixels.
The laptop is equipped with a "scissor" type keyboard, which is very similar in functionality to the Magic Keyboard.
For a long time, the device was equipped with 6-core and 8-core processors from Intel. However, starting in 2021, Apple began installing its own processors. That same year, the laptop returned the function keys, removed the Touch Bar, addressed numerous critical issues, and expanded the number of ports to include HDMI and SDXC. Now, the 16 Pro supports connection with multiple external displays. The third-generation MagSafe charging system has been implemented.
The screen has extremely thin bezels and a neat cutout, with a Liquid Retina XDR display format. The FaceTime HD camera has a 1080p resolution. The laptop features an advanced Dolby Atmos audio system, which provides immersive sound. This system was originally designed for commercial cinemas.
For some time, the 16 Pro was equipped with advanced processors – M1 Pro and M1 Max. This ensured increased energy efficiency and high performance. However, in 2023, the 16 Pro started being equipped with M2 Pro and M1 Max processors. Some variations of the devices have increased unified memory capacity – up to 96 GB.
The MacBook 16 PRO can confidently be called one of Apple's significant inventions. It is indeed a powerful and energy-efficient laptop, with an optimally sized high-resolution display.
