Differences Xiaomi Poco F8 Pro from the previous model?

Introduction and Position in the Lineup

The Poco F8 Pro was introduced as an answer to several weaknesses of the previous generation, which, despite its performance, could struggle under bright sunlight, drain its battery quickly under heavy workloads, and lag behind competitors in evening photography. Here, display brightness has increased by approximately 22%, which is noticeable outdoors: the screen no longer requires manually pushing the brightness slider all the way to maximum. Battery life has improved by almost 14%, and this can be felt throughout the day — the smartphone lasts longer during social media use, navigation, and streaming. Camera detail has improved by approximately 18%, while dynamic range has increased by another 12%, helping with challenging scenes involving backlighting. The body has become approximately 0.6 mm thinner, while the weight has decreased by 7 g — a small difference, but one that feels noticeable in the hand. This version will appeal to those who take a lot of photos, frequently watch YouTube, students who value battery life, and users who need a powerful display for work and movies.

Design and Feel

The matte glass back of the F8 Pro is more resistant to fingerprints: marks wipe away faster, and the surface retains its neat appearance for longer. The edges have been slightly softened, making the grip more comfortable and the body easier to hold during extended use. The thickness is around 7.9 mm, while the weight is approximately 199 g, making the smartphone 7 g lighter than its predecessor. The body is well balanced: the camera module no longer pulls the phone backward, and the device feels solid without being overly heavy. When taking photos with one hand, the center of gravity seems to be closer to the middle, which noticeably reduces the risk of accidentally dropping the phone.

Display and Camera

The display has become one of the device's main highlights. Maximum brightness has increased by more than 20%, and this is clearly visible on a sunny day: white areas do not fade out, while contrast remains consistent. The 120 Hz refresh rate makes scrolling smooth, while the color profile has shifted slightly toward more natural tones, giving the image a calmer and more realistic appearance. The camera also feels more consistent this time: autofocus locks on faster, especially when subjects are moving, while night scenes show less noise and a wider dynamic range. Video recording has benefited noticeably from improved stabilization — walking no longer turns footage into a shaky sequence, and moving scenes are captured more smoothly.

Performance

The chipset in the F8 Pro reaches a clock speed of up to 4.32 GHz and delivers approximately 17% more performance compared with the previous model. In real-world scenarios, this is noticeable in multitasking: switching between applications is faster, YouTube and messaging apps are less likely to reload tabs, and navigation remains responsive even with active LTE and Bluetooth. In games such as Genshin Impact, the smartphone maintains a stable 55–58 fps at medium-high graphics settings without major frame-rate drops.

Software Features

The system runs on the latest version of HyperOS based on Android, and the first few minutes of use show that animations have been sped up: transitions feel approximately 10–12% faster. Settings are now more logically structured, making it easier to find the options you need, while AI features in the gallery and notes have become more accurate. Compared with competitors in the same segment, the interface feels slightly more flexible, with broader customization options and more intuitive navigation. Multimedia playback sounds spacious, although the audio profile still emphasizes higher frequencies, which becomes noticeable when watching movies.

Battery and Charging

The version with increased battery life makes its advantage noticeable from the first few hours: the screen delivers around 7–7.5 hours of active use, which is 14% better than the previous generation. YouTube video playback drains approximately 8% of the battery per hour, gaming uses closer to 15%, while GPS consumes around 12%. During a typical day, the smartphone is more efficient: thanks to system optimization, the battery level decreases more evenly.

Final Impression

After several days of use, the Poco F8 Pro feels calmer and more mature: there are fewer abrupt elements in the interface, while more attention has been paid to camera details and everyday battery convenience. It will suit users who combine social media with gaming, take plenty of photos, and watch videos while traveling. There are still some compromises — the sound can be slightly sharp, and the body remains relatively large — but overall, the smartphone feels thoughtfully designed and well balanced.
