Apple Watch Ultra 4 does not try to reinvent the format of rugged smartwatches. Its goal is much more practical: retain the familiar 49-mm titanium case while making everyday use less dependent on a power outlet and expanding the sensor set. The software experience is built around watchOS 27. The interface remains familiar to Apple Watch users, so switching from the previous model requires virtually no adjustment. The new capabilities are especially noticeable for people who train regularly: the watch gradually becomes more than just a screen for notifications, serving as a tool for monitoring personal routines.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery life is the most noticeable change. Up to 50 hours versus 42 for Ultra 3 represents an increase of approximately 19%. In Low Power Mode, the watch can run for up to 84 hours. For workouts with active route tracking, up to 25 hours is claimed in extended mode, while the maximum GPS tracking time reaches 45 hours. Fast charging also remains an important part of the experience: around 15 minutes on the charger provides up to 18 hours of regular use, while the battery can be charged to 80% in approximately 45 minutes. As a result, even a short charge before leaving home can significantly extend usage time.

After several days with Ultra 4, it becomes clear who this model is intended for. It is well suited to athletes, travelers, and users who constantly rely on GPS, notifications, music, and activity tracking. For a student, the watch can be useful for quickly checking messages and schedules, while for someone with a busy routine, the increased battery life can make a difference. At the same time, upgrading from Ultra 3 does not look essential: the case and display are practically the same. The main changes are inside — a newer processor, new capabilities for analyzing metrics, and a noticeable increase in battery life. As a result, Ultra 4 feels less like a design change and more like a measured refinement of an already familiar platform.
