In the fall of 2024, Apple introduced the iMac 24 based on the M4 chipset. Externally, it resembles its predecessor, but inside it features powerful hardware with AI support.

Technical Features and Camera

The all-in-one received 16 GB of RAM and the most advanced M4 central processor. For an additional fee, you can upgrade the RAM up to 32 GB.

It comes with 256 GB of internal storage, but you can pay extra to upgrade the drive to 1 or 2 TB.

The M4 processor is manufactured using a 3-nanometer process. The chipset was first introduced in May 2024, but this is its first use in an all-in-one. It features 10 computing cores and 10 graphics cores. It supports dynamic cache and hardware-accelerated ray tracing. According to the manufacturer, the all-in-one now works 1.7 times faster than its predecessor, and in photo processing, it is 2.1 times faster.

The selfie camera is 12 MP. It has not undergone significant changes compared to the previous model but now supports Deskview technology, which tracks user movements and positioning.

Design and Display

The screen size remains the same — 24 inches. The resolution is 4.5K (4480 x 2520 pixels). The display panel is Retina with P3 color gamut support. Brightness is 500 nits. The screen has a textured coating that eliminates 99% of glare.

Color options for the case include purple, silver, orange, pink, green, and blue. Compared to the predecessor, the shades are a bit softer and even slightly muted.

The all-in-one weighs 4.5 kg and is only 14.7 mm thick. Dimensions: 461 x 547 mm.

Other Features

The all-in-one features 3 microphones and a full sound system with 6 speakers. The Touch ID function is retained, allowing users to make purchases comfortably directly from the PC.

The USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 4, enabling connection of up to 2 external monitors with 6K resolution.

Siri assistant is included, allowing easy switching between typed and spoken commands. There is a Genmoji tool for generating custom emojis. ChatGPT is integrated into Siri and Writing Tools.

For creating fun photos with captions, there is an Image Playground tool.

The manufacturer also visually updated the keyboard and mouse and added a USB-C charging port.

The new iMac version is perfect for replacing Intel-based all-in-ones. Although the PC is not positioned as a gaming device, it handles most games well, albeit at 1080p resolution. It is ideal for office and home tasks, easily running with 30 open browser tabs and Photoshop.
