Last year, Xiaomi launched its latest flagship devices under the Xiaomi 14 brand, including the standard model and a more advanced version — the 14 Pro. Let's analyze the main differences between these two versions.

Appearance

The design of the models remains almost unchanged, but now the phone's edges have been more carefully refined, and the camera block is adorned with a shiny metallic frame. Both models share the same style, featuring a metal base and glass panels on both sides.

The pink variant of the standard model now has a leather back cover, created using a unique synthetic technology, making it less prone to stains, as noted by the manufacturer.

Despite the similarity in design, the smartphones have different dimensions. The standard version is more compact: its height is 15.3 cm, width — 7.1 cm, thickness — 0.82 cm, and weight — 188 g. In contrast, the Pro version is slightly larger and heavier: its height reaches 16.1 cm, width — 7.5 cm, thickness is 0.85 cm, and weight is 223 g.

Display

The new device features a larger 6.73-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD+ resolution (3200 by 1440 pixels), which significantly improves image quality compared to its predecessor. At the same time, the standard version of the Xiaomi 14 has a 6.36-inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution (2670 by 1200 pixels), making it less impressive in terms of resolution.

Both models offer outstanding screen brightness at 3000 nits, while the latest iPhone models range from 2000 to 2500 nits, and the Xiaomi 13 Pro reaches only 1900 nits.

Specifications

Both flagship Xiaomi models are powered by the modern 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and feature a powerful graphics accelerator with support for ray tracing technology. The difference between the devices lies in the memory options: the Xiaomi 14 offers 8 to 16 GB of RAM, with internal storage ranging from 256 GB to 1 TB, while the Pro version starts with 12 GB of RAM.

Both devices run on Android 14 and come with the latest version of the proprietary HyperOS.

Both devices support 5G, feature eSIM functionality, and allow the use of two SIM cards simultaneously. In terms of battery life, the Xiaomi 14 comes with a 4610 mAh battery, while the Pro version has a 4880 mAh battery. Despite the slight difference in capacity, the Pro version is expected to last a little longer.

Additionally, both models offer fast charging: the Pro version can charge at up to 120W, while the Xiaomi 14 charges at 90W.

Camera

Xiaomi has updated the cameras in its latest flagship models. Both phones feature a triple main module with a 50-megapixel main sensor. A distinctive feature of the Pro version is the variable aperture (f/1.4–4.0) on the main lens, while the base model has a fixed aperture (f/1.6), providing it with 127% more light sensitivity. This feature allows the Pro version to take high-quality photos even in low-light conditions. For video calls and selfies, both devices are equipped with a 32-megapixel front camera, located at the top of the screen in a small cutout.
