Differences Samsung Z Flip 5 from the previous model?
The first Galaxy Z Flip was released in 2020. Unlike the Z Fold, the smartphone folds horizontally. In 2024, the 5th version was introduced, with increased performance and the ability to customize the external display, which became larger compared to the 4th version.
Main Specifications
The 2024 device is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, with improved characteristics compared to the 1st version installed on the Z Fold 4. The chipset can confidently claim the title of "gaming", it is powerful, and energy-efficient. The graphics are handled by the Adreno 740 chipset. The main processor has a built-in modem, providing data transfer speeds of up to 2500 Mbps.
The RAM capacity remains the same as its predecessor at 8 GB. The internal storage comes in 2 options: 256 or 512 GB.
The main difference between the 4th and 5th versions is that the latter smartphone has a larger cover screen diagonal, now it is 3.4 inches compared to 1.9 inches. The display matrix is Super AMOLED, with a resolution of 720 x 748 compared to 260 x 512 in the predecessor.
The main screen remains the same with a diagonal of 6.7 inches. The display matrix is Dynamic AMOLED, with a resolution of 2640 x 1080.
Changes have been made to the protective glass, it is now Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, whereas the predecessor had the "plus" version.
The smartphone is available in several colors: black, green, white, purple, gray, and yellow. There is a fingerprint scanner built into the button.
The battery capacity remains the same - 3700 mAh, which was quite enough for a whole day for the predecessor, and since the new model has a more energy-efficient processor, the time without recharging is even further increased.
Cameras
The camera specifications of this year's model have not changed compared to last year's. The front camera is 10 MP. The main camera has 2 modules: a ultra-wide-angle lens at 12 MP and a wide-angle lens at 12 MP.
Significant Innovations
The main innovation of the Z Fold 5 model is the new hinges. Now when folding, the phone has practically no gaps, and the process of opening and closing has become smoother. It's much easier to handle the phone, open, and close it with one hand. These improvements were achieved thanks to the Flex hinge. On the other hand, due to the large diagonal of the external display, you won't even need to unfold the phone for minor tasks.
Also, Samsung promises OS support for 4 years, with security updates coming for 1 year longer.
