Sony in the summer of 2025 once again introduced to its fans a new flagship smartphone model – the Xperia 1 VII. Visually, the phone resembles its predecessor, but the technical specifications of the new model are more interesting.
General description:
The battery capacity remains standard at 5000 mAh, the same as its predecessor.
Compared to the previous Xperia 1 VI, the predecessor had a lower-class processor – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The memory card slot is retained with support for expansion up to 2 TB. Water and dust protection are at the highest level – IP68. Important features such as NFC, Wi-Fi (version 7), Bluetooth (version 6), and even the 3.5 mm headphone jack are all preserved, just like in the previous model.
The evaporative camera of the new model is the same as last year's version, and it has been refined almost to perfection, so it requires no modifications.
The OLED display has a diagonal of 6.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 × 2340 (FHD+), so compared to its predecessor, there are no changes. However, brightness has increased by 20%, and a light sensor has been added, allowing the screen brightness and color temperature to automatically adjust to ambient lighting.
Dimensions: 16.2 × 7.4 cm. Thickness: 8.2 mm; weight: 197 grams. The predecessor weighed slightly less – 192 grams, but the difference is barely noticeable.
The design of the new model has not changed; the manufacturer preserved the classic features. It has a flat body with top and bottom bezels, and all button placements are the same as the predecessor. In terms of colors, the manufacturer remains conservative: green, purple, and black (slate).
On the back of the device, there is a triple camera setup:
Compared to the predecessor, the ultra-wide camera now has 4 times the resolution – 48 MP versus 12 MP – and the sensor is 2.1 times larger than last year’s model. The front camera remains 12 MP, the same as the predecessor.
Additionally, the new model introduces AI-based features that allow video stabilization and auto-framing.
