The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 indeed gained popularity thanks to its stylish and elegant design, making it convenient for everyday use. Now, we are faced with the question of its successor — the Z Flip 6. At first glance, it seems that the new model is not much different from the previous one. But let's take a closer look at whether it's worth upgrading to the new version. The Z Flip 6 has received several significant technical improvements, which might be enough to justify an upgrade.
Distinguishing the Flip models from each other is quite easy, especially if they are not in a case. On the Flip 6, the camera on the front is surrounded by a larger and more noticeable bezel that stands out with its brightness and appeal.
Another difference concerns the side frame: in the Flip 6, it is made of matte aluminum and painted to match the back panel, whereas the Flip 5 had a chrome silver frame. The new models feature a uniform color throughout the body, which looks very stylish. Moreover, the matte glass back panel does not reflect light and does not collect fingerprints.
The dimensions and weight of the models are the same, so ergonomically they are similar.
The size and resolution of the internal screen remain unchanged. Users can expect the same 6.7-inch display with a resolution of 1080×2640 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. With a pixel density of 425 ppi, images and text appear sharp and clear even when viewed closely. The smartphone also features automatic brightness adjustment and an AlwaysOn Display function. It allows the screen to display limited information, such as time, date, and notifications, when the phone is in standby mode. This is convenient as it saves battery life by not requiring the screen to be fully turned on to check basic information.
The main innovation in the Z Flip 6 is its improved display, which is now much brighter — its peak brightness reaches 2600 nits. This is a significant improvement over the 1750 nits of the previous Z Flip 5 model, making the phone more comfortable to use in bright sunlight.
Although the external Cover screen retains its previous brightness of 1600 nits and has not changed, it is still perfect for quickly checking notifications, time, and working with widgets.
The new device uses an upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which replaces the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The new processor is 30% more efficient, allowing it to handle everyday tasks faster and offering a 25% performance boost in gaming, making it a significant upgrade for the device.
In addition to the processor upgrade, Samsung has also integrated a new cooling system with a vapor chamber, helping the device stay cool even under heavy loads. This ensures the device maintains high performance without the risk of overheating.
The Z Flip 6 now comes with 12 GB of RAM, which is 4 GB more than the previous model, offering users a choice between versions with 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage.
Thanks to the increased battery capacity by 300 mAh to a total of 4000 mAh, the new smartphone can last an entire day without needing a recharge. This makes it a great choice for those with active lifestyles, allowing for up to 68 hours of music playback and up to 23 hours of video playback on a single charge.
The new Z Flip series also introduces AI features, such as generative wallpapers, automatic chat responses based on previous conversations, real-time two-way translations, and enhanced photo editing capabilities, thanks to the use of dual screens in Flex Mode.
The Flip 6 camera has undergone significant improvements compared to its predecessor. The smartphone is now equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, the same as in the Galaxy S24 Plus, which is a major step forward. This camera is complemented by a new 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
The main 50-megapixel sensor enables higher-quality photos, significantly improving low-light shooting, far surpassing the capabilities of the 12-megapixel sensor in the previous model. The ultra-wide-angle camera is also optimized for better performance in low light and offers improved HDR, making images brighter and sharper.
A unique feature of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is the Flex Camera, which is ideal for taking selfies. It allows hands-free shooting with the main camera, automatically adjusting focus with auto-zoom and AI Zoom, ensuring the best angle and focus on objects. Photo previews can easily be viewed on the Flex Screen, adding convenience.
Another advantage of the camera in the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is the ProVisual Algorithm, which optimizes each image, making portraits highly professional and maximally detailed. This technology elevates the quality of photography to a new level, producing studio-quality images.
