Differences Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge from the previous model?

The new Galaxy S25 Edge is Samsung's attempt to create an ultra-thin smartphone that still remains powerful and convenient. It surpasses the Galaxy S24 in many ways, which was thicker, heavier, and more modest in features. Let’s figure out how important the new features are — and where the S24 still holds its ground.

Design

The Galaxy S25 Edge is truly a step forward in design. Samsung wanted to show how to make a smartphone ultra-thin without losing durability or premium feel. In hand, it feels like a light and confident tool: the body is made of Grade 2 titanium, the front has Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, and the back uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2. These materials are not just impressive on paper—they genuinely provide protection and durability. Surprisingly, despite this, the body is incredibly thin at just 5.8 mm, without feeling fragile. The new device weighs only 163 grams, and it almost feels weightless in the hand, which is especially pleasant if you carry your phone all day.

Compared to this airiness, the Galaxy S24 feels hefty. Its thickness is 7.6 mm, and it weighs more. The frame is the usual aluminum, and the glass is Gorilla Glass Victus. Yes, it’s reliable and looks solid, but it feels more traditional. Both models have IP68 protection, meaning they can handle dust, water, and even drops into a sink without issues.

Visually, the S25 Edge is a phone you want to show off. The colors are carefully chosen: Titanium Silver, Icy Blue, and classic Jet Black. They emphasize minimalism and premium quality. The Galaxy S24 offers a wider palette, but the Edge looks modern, even futuristic, especially in person.

Interestingly, despite its thinness and light weight, the Galaxy S25 Edge does not compromise on reliability. It doesn’t creak, bend, or feel worrying even without a case. Attention to detail is evident—rounded edges, recessed buttons for comfort, and a frame that visually almost disappears. Against this, the S24 feels slightly rougher and bulkier. This doesn’t make it bad, but the difference is noticeable immediately.

Display

Samsung’s displays are, as always, excellent, but the Galaxy S25 Edge takes it to a new level — and it’s noticeable even to the naked eye. It features a 6.7-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 3200×1800 pixels. Its predecessor had a slightly smaller 6.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2340. The new model also offers a denser image—513 ppi versus 416 on the predecessor. In practice, this means slightly sharper images, especially when looking closely at text or fine interface elements. But it’s not just numbers — the Edge screen feels more “airy,” which is not only due to the thin bezels, though they contribute.

The display occupies about 92.43% of the front panel, slightly more than the S24 — which is around 91.22%. This may seem minor, but in practice, the Edge almost dissolves the boundary between the screen and the body. It’s especially noticeable when watching videos, where the frame occupies nearly the entire front. The Edge also features excellent symmetry — nearly equal bezels on all sides, something Samsung hasn’t always achieved before.

Both smartphones reach a peak brightness of 2600 nits for HDR content, meaning the display remains clear and vibrant even under direct sunlight.

Both screens support up to 120 Hz refresh rate and use LTPO technology, which adjusts frequency from 1 to 120 Hz depending on the scenario — e.g., scrolling or static content. This saves battery and ensures smooth visuals. Thanks to the new generation of controllers, the Edge handles this slightly faster and more seamlessly — transitions are smoother, and the interface feels more “alive.”

Specifications

In terms of hardware, the S25 Edge is impressive. It is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, built on a 3nm process. This is not just a marketing number — it makes the chip more energy-efficient and significantly more powerful. The main difference is the Oryon cores architecture, reaching up to 4.32 GHz. This is extremely high even by flagship standards, and synthetic tests show excellent results. The Galaxy S24 uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is also strong but operates on more standard cores at up to 3.39 GHz.

What’s especially nice is that, despite its power, the Edge doesn’t turn into a mini heater. Even during gaming or heavy tasks, it stays cool thanks to the updated cooling system. Despite the ultra-thin body, engineers managed to fit an efficient vapor chamber, solving several issues: it doesn’t overheat, throttle, or lose performance under load. The S24 also has good heat dissipation, but the Edge handles it more calmly and quietly, which is appreciated for frequent work use.
