Full speed ahead. The Samsung Galaxy S23 is the brand's new mid-range flagship. This model has significantly improved compared to the previous version, narrowing the gap with the higher-end models of the series. The design of the new S23 remains almost the same as its predecessor, the S22, but the battery has become more capacious, although the device's size has only slightly increased.
Design
In 2023, Samsung chose a minimalist and 'clean' design style for its new Galaxy S23, which does not appear revolutionary externally. The smartphone stands out for its thinness — only 7.6 mm, and its display is now completely flat. The device's back cover is now entirely flat, without a protruding camera module, and is equipped with three identical lenses.
The tactile feel of the Galaxy S23 is special: it feels like the smartphone fits perfectly in the hand, and this comfort will be noticed by users with a variety of palm sizes.
The materials used in the Galaxy S23 are of high quality. Both panels of the device are protected by the toughest Gorilla Glass Victus 2, enhancing its resistance to drops and impacts. The body, reinforced with a special aluminum frame, gives the device additional strength and protection in everyday use.
The Galaxy S23 is available in four color options: cream white, black, green, and lavender. Not as many as the predecessor, but there is still a choice.
Display
The new Galaxy S23 features a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, familiar from the previous S22 model, but with an important enhancement: screen brightness is now 35% higher, significantly improving the quality of HDR content display, making it brighter and more vibrant. The screen resolution is 2340×1080 pixels, providing a high pixel density of 422 ppi at 6.1 inches, which contributes to exceptional image clarity. The display supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz, offers a wide color gamut, and supports HDR10+ for perfect visual perception.
Technical Specifications
The gadget offers outstanding performance thanks to the integration of the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and 8 GB of the latest generation LPDDR5X RAM, making each model in this series fast and responsive. Regardless of the chosen internal memory size, all devices in the series are equipped with this modern RAM. Moreover, the versions with 256 and 512 GB of internal storage are equipped with faster UFS 4.0 chips, providing even greater data read and write speeds, while the model with 128 GB of storage uses the previous UFS 3.1 standard, which still offers decent performance.
The Galaxy S23's battery has a capacity of 3,900 mAh, which is 200 mAh more than its predecessor, the S22, but 100 mAh less than the S21.
Camera
The best camera in the lineup, as expected, is installed in the Ultra model, however, the compact S23 does not lag behind with its outstanding 50-megapixel module.
By default, the camera takes photos at 12-megapixel resolution, achieving high detail and light sensitivity. There is also the option to shoot in 50-megapixel mode, which impresses with image quality. Photos have excellent dynamic range, fine post-processing, and minimal noise even in dark areas.
The camera also includes a 3x telephoto lens with 10 megapixels, which produces impressively clear and natural shots. Colors are slightly cooler than real, but such photos are easier to edit. The ultra-wide-angle camera also features high quality, and the auxiliary modules do not lag behind the main one.
The selfie camera has improved from 10 to 12 megapixels, gaining better dynamic range and HDR characteristics. The background in selfies is moderately blurred, which gives the photos and videos the necessary depth and makes them pleasing to the eye.
