In 2023, the company introduced a budget phone model Galaxy A15, which is available in two versions: 4G and 5G. It features a 6.5-inch screen with excellent clarity and a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz, with increased brightness – 800 nits. Despite its budget nature, the device is comfortable for viewing content even in bright sunlight.
The gadget received a decent processor – Mediatek Helio G99. RAM options are 4, 6, or 8 GB. Internal storage is 125 or 256 GB. It's nice that the model has a memory card slot and is equipped with a hybrid slot for NANO-SIM.
The model comes with a non-removable 5000 mAh battery, just like the A14 version. It supports fast charging at 25 W, compared to only 15 W in its predecessor.
The smartphone features a fingerprint sensor located on the right side panel between the "ON/OFF" and "Volume" buttons.
The changes to the cameras compared to its predecessors are minimal. The main module remains at 50 MP + a 2 MP macro camera. Instead of a 2 MP depth sensor, there is now a 5 MP ultra-wide camera.
The front wide-angle camera remains at 13 MP.
The phone now includes FM radio, which was missing from the A14 model. The headphone jack is retained.
Significant changes have been made to the display. The late 2023 model features a Super AMOLED screen. The A14 had only an IPS LCD, which has much worse image quality compared to the newer model.
The A15 model is slightly thinner compared to its predecessor – 8.4 mm versus 9.1 mm. Although visually, especially in a case, the changes are almost imperceptible. The display sizeA15 is 6.5 inches, while the predecessor had 0.1 inches more. However, the screen-to-body ratio has increased to 84.3% compared to 80.2% in the A14.
When comparing the two models released in 2023 with a 9-month gap, the latest A15 version has several advantages:
The display is significantly better, delivering a clearer and more contrasting image compared to the A14;
The display brightness is at a higher level, equal to 800 nits;
The third ultra-wide camera, whereas the predecessor had a depth sensor instead;
Fast charging at 25 W compared to 15 W in the older model.
Despite its budget positioning, the A15 model turned out to be quite interesting, with a bright screen delivering a vivid and contrasting picture. The smartphone will be a good choice for communication, content viewing, and simple photography.
