Samsung has recently expanded its tablet lineup by introducing the Galaxy Tab S9 FE, a device that seamlessly fits between the flagship Galaxy Tab S9 series and the more affordable A series models. This new tablet offers a unique combination of advanced technologies and affordability, making it an attractive choice for those seeking a balance between high quality and price.
Design
The tablet's body is made of aluminum, giving the device a luxurious and high-quality feel. The model is available in four colors: delicate mint and lavender, and more subdued and minimalist silver and graphite. The tablet is impressively thin at only 6.5 mm thick, making it thinner than many smartphones, and weighs just 523 grams, making it easy to use for watching movies or browsing the internet.
The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the unlock button on the side and operates quickly and accurately. This tablet features an IP68 certification, providing protection against water and dust, which is more characteristic of high-end smartphones than tablets.
At the bottom edge of the tablet are magnetic connectors to which you can attach a keyboard case, transforming the tablet into a compact laptop. Additionally, the package includes an S Pen stylus, which can be attached to the back panel of the device using magnetic fixation.
Display
The Galaxy Tab S9 FE is equipped with a 10.9-inch display with a resolution of 2304 by 1440 pixels, based on PLS technology, unlike the AMOLED screens found in flagship devices. This results in less saturated color reproduction and lighter blacks. However, such a display does not suffer from PWM flicker, which reduces eye strain during reading, making the tablet ideal for long content viewing sessions.
The bright 600-nit display is convenient for outdoor use even on a winter day, providing excellent visibility when taking photos or using social networks. The screen refresh rate is 90 Hz, which is lower than that of flagship models, but it is enjoyable to use thanks to its smoothness and responsiveness.
The Vision Booster technology adjusts brightness, contrast, and colors to ensure better visibility under direct sunlight. Additionally, the blue light level is reduced, which protects vision and increases usage comfort.
Processor
Samsung has incorporated its Exynos 1380 processor into the tablet. Although it does not match the power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 used in the standard Galaxy Tab S9 model, it effectively handles everyday tasks.
Battery
The 8000mAh battery is more than enough for a device with an energy-efficient display and processor. On a full charge, the tablet can run long enough to watch three movies in a row or for 7–8 hours of active screen use. PC Mark Work 3.0 showed about 10 hours of operation on a full charge, indicating good energy efficiency. Meanwhile, the battery barely loses charge in standby mode.
This tablet is capable of charging at a maximum speed of up to 45W. According to the manufacturer, a full charge of this model takes 80 minutes, but when using a non-original adapter from Ugreen, the charging time increases to approximately 2 hours.
Camera
Tablet cameras typically cannot compare to those built into smartphones, as they are primarily used for video calls. However, the camera in this model stands out with its settings and quality, allowing for everyday photos that are above the level of its mid-range counterparts.
The tablet's main camera is 8 megapixels without additional sensors. The front camera is 12 megapixels, which is even higher than the main camera, and handles selfies and video calls excellently.
