Apple offers a wide range of laptops that are ultra-light and thin, with enhanced performance and Retina displays. All models have different price points. However, there's no need to be overwhelmed by the extensive selection; you can focus on the MacBook Air 13.
Performance and Battery Life
The model features the M1 processor, which is 15% more powerful than its predecessor's chipset – Air 12. Plus, it has 8 cores, which is 6 more than its predecessor. The RAM remains at 8 GB.
The storage starts at 128 GB and goes up to 1.5 TB.
The model boasts excellent battery life, lasting 12-14 hours when working with text documents or browsing the internet. The 12 Air could only manage 5-6 hours of battery life. The new version has a battery capacity of 50.3 Wh.
Screen and Camera
The next important feature is the display. The Air 13 has a 13.3-inch diagonal, while the predecessor had only 12 inches. The resolution has also increased to 2560x1600 pixels compared to 2304x1440.
The laptop's graphics adapter is Apple, which means improved energy efficiency and smooth graphics compared to the Intel adapter in the 12 version.
The 13 version features an HD FaceTime 720p camera, while the predecessor had an SD camera.
Other Features
The weight of the newer model has increased, which is expected due to the larger diagonal. It now weighs 1.29 kg, while the predecessor was only 920 grams. The dimensions have also increased to 304x212x16mm, but the ultrabook remains a compact and portable device.
The keyboard, in addition to backlighting, now includes a fingerprint scanner. The trackpad supports inertia scrolling, rotation, zooming, dragging, and other essential functions for everyday use.
The ports have been retained: USB Type-A, memory card slot, and Magsafe. The device includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It supports Apple iPhone headsets, which can be controlled using the remote or even the microphone. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules are also present.
The laptop features 2 stereo speakers and dual microphones, enhancing sound quality during conference calls or video viewing.
The ultrabook is made of aluminum, which can be recycled.
