Users barely had time to recover from the excitement of the 2022 novelty - Watch Ultra when the 2nd generation of the series appeared. The company has proven to be true to the concept of creating new devices and is ready for constant experimentation.

Design and Display

Overall, there are no external differences between the Ultra and Ultra 2. Both devices are 49 mm in size, with an Action button on the casing. In fact, the watches remain the largest ones offered by the company.

The displays of both devices are also the same, with the same resolution - 410 x 520 pixels, but there is still a significant difference. The brightness of the Ultra 2 screen is 3000 nits, which is 1,000 nits higher than its predecessor. Naturally, such brightness ensures more comfortable reading and viewing on the display. Moreover, thanks to the high brightness, it was possible to improve the flashlight function, making it even brighter than that of the predecessor.

Functionality and Performance

The Ultra 2 model has received a new chip that allows for double-tap commands with the index and middle fingers. The Double Tap feature is provided in case there is no free hand or possibility to reach the screen. Double tap enables:

• answer or end a call;

• start or pause a music track;

• start a timer, widget;

• turn off alarm and more.

The updated model has received a 2-core S9 SiP processor. According to the manufacturer's statement, compared to the S8 chipset, the new model's performance has increased by 30%. In addition, the device has a 4-core Neural Engine chipset, capable of processing machine learning tasks twice as fast as its predecessor.

The amount of RAM has not changed and remains at 2 GB. However, the amount of built-in memory has doubled and now stands at 64 GB for the new model.

The battery capacity is the same for both models – 542 mAh. In normal mode, the watch will last 36 hours without recharging, and in economy mode - 72 hours.

All sports tracking functions have been retained in the updated model. The dual-frequency mode for GPS has also been retained, allowing for maximum accuracy in determining location and using the watch for diving. The new model even has a feature to save all data in a special application.

Ultra 2 comes pre-installed with watchOS 10. Additionally, the ability to sync with HomePod has been added. The manufacturer has improved the voice input algorithm by 25%. The voice assistant Siri can now retrieve health data in offline mode (without network connection).
